Iyengar yoga is one of the longest standing methods of teaching yoga in the UK and is practised widely across the world. Its popularity owes much to its safe, methodical and inclusive approach. Poses can be adapted to different abilities. Students are encouraged to progress at their own pace and to focus on precision and alignment within their practice.

BKS Iyengar (1918-2014) was one of the world's foremost teachers and exponents of yoga. He devoted his life to its study and dissemination. He is often credited with popularising yoga and creating a method of teaching that made it accessible to everyone. He first taught in the UK and trained teachers here in the 1960s.

“Yoga allows you to find a new kind of freedom that you may not have known even existed”    ~ B.K.S. Iyengar ~

The Iyengar Yoga Association UK is the governing body. It is responsible for awarding teaching certificates, monitoring the professional development of Iyengar yoga teachers and ensuring that standards are maintained.
